And I mean alot of weight like 25-30 pounds. And how much will gaining muscle help me in basketball? How much will losing weight help me in basketball?
Being skinny and weak won't help you at all. Focus less on losing weight and more being fit and healthy. Weight is just a number. It's how you feel that's important. How much will losing weight help me in basketball?
Gaining muscle will actually help you lose fat as well. Muscle helps you to burn calories, so increasing your lean muscle mass also increases your metabolism.
You're going to want to gain lean muscle mass for basketball, though, not getting too bulky. Do this by doing less weight with more reps (i.e. 12-15 reps), which will also help you to decrease your body fat percentage.
Here are some good exercises that actually burn a lot of calories, to, so help you to get stronger and lose body fat:
Squats
Lunges
Pull-ups (you can do these with machine assistance)
Also jump rope, it's a great cardio work-out that burns a lot of calories (and therefore fat) that also helps with your second leap ability and foot speed.
Good luck manHow much will losing weight help me in basketball?

How to be confident and not nervous during basketball tryouts?
I am trying out for AAU basketball tommorrow. I feel like I have enough skill and talent, it's just a matter of me proving that talent to the coaches, which might be difficult because I get awfully nervous during tryouts. I don't know what to do, to calm myself and just be confident. I really need some tips, please help! PLEASE!How to be confident and not nervous during basketball tryouts?
being somewhat nervous is good. it means you care and it means something to you. dont get overly nervous though. relax play your game. dont try to do too much or force to much. let the game come to you. be confident and it will show in the way you play. go out there not cocky but like you know exactly what your doing and play to your strengths and try to avoid your weaknesses. if your a great 3 shooter but cant dribble that well try to run off some screens or get set and knock down the shot. but most of all just hustle and play your hardest...coaches care about talent but they arent going to pick someone who doesnt hustle and play team ball.
do your best and try your hardest. but if i were you, i owuld pracrtice the day before so you no what you need to practiceHow to be confident and not nervous during basketball tryouts?
jUST RELAX, LET YOUR GAME SPEAK FOR ITSELF, and dont try to do everything, pass when a person is open, leave it all on the court, leave all sweat and tears on the floor, hold nothing back, give it your best, show no selfishness, and just remember, everyone is nervous, just make sure you leave knowing you gave it your best. Make a buddy, he can help calm you down.
just relax!!!!!!!! play like no1 is watching..its easy to say but i dk. i dont really get nervous anymore. if your nervous then you can mess up if ur relax u will play better. How to be confident and not nervous during basketball tryouts?
Act like it's practice outside your house at your own hoop. It works for me, hey I'm on a good team averaging 20ppg with a record of 5-2bikebandit

What are the best basketball shoes for shin splints?
I'm a junior in high school and I play basketball. I have shin splints pretty bad and I need to know what the best basketball shoes are for this. When I start running, my shins feel really heavy and achy, and so I need something that won't weigh me down. Brand doesn't matter. I just need some suggestions. What are the best basketball shoes for shin splints?

make sure it is a basketball shoe the hyperdunks are the lightest basketball shoe ever made but it is a advanced basketball shoeWhat is the ideal amount of oz. a basketball shoe should have?
"The weight of the shoe is very important because of the fact that basketball is a cardiovascular sport. While you're not running at a high pace at all times, you are constantly on your toes. The lighter the shoe, the less restriction, but the heavier the shoe, the better quality material. The heavier shoes are usually heavier because they are more technologically advanced and respond better to wear and tear. This is a total choice for the consumer. Usually shoes are weighted at around 13-18 oz."
the lighter, the better. i don't think its possible to be too light, but sometimes light shoes are only light because they are not made of supportive, durable material.
you should try to find a shoe that is 15 or less ounces that has good support for your ankles. i highly recomend the Nike Hyperdunks, they are the lightest shoes around (13.2 oz.) and are supportive and durable.

How to fix a bad shooting motion in basketball?
I haven't played basketball in 5 years, and needless to say, my shot is horrible. I can't get a consistant spin, and my accuracy is off. It doesn't feel natural when I shoot. Does anyone have any pointers as to get my shot back? How to fix a bad shooting motion in basketball?
Extend your arms all the way and make sure your wrists snap down so at the end of your release you arm and hand looks like a doves head/neck. Also make sure your feet are set. Start off closer to the hoop with a lay up and then work your way out, never start from long jump shots, that will never get your shot back. But really nothing will help more than just constant practice.
practice..get to practice short range shots first then make it longer as you get better with the short range. How to fix a bad shooting motion in basketball?
Im not sure, because i use to shoot poorly and keep " throwing" the ball instead of " shooting " it, because my right hand is too far to the left. Then i slowly shifted and now when i shoot i shoot better and my hand goes in the middle for a better aim.~
when you shot bend ur knees and when u shoot keep your elbow in towards the hoop and with a little practice u can make it easy
its what i doHow to fix a bad shooting motion in basketball?
Quite likely, you are shooting two-handed. That is what inconsistent spin and bad accuracy tells me. Two-handed shooting is the most common shooting flaw out there.
Place your shooting hand behind the ball with the first finger in the very middle of the ball. Put your off hand to the side. Keep elbow in, as one other person posted here, or, in other words, keep the line of your forearm lined up straight to the rim. Set the ball up at the beginning of your shot a bit off center towards your shooting side and below your shoulder. Then the big tip I have for you is LIFT AND FREEZE. Lift means driving your elbow over your eyebrow and freeze means to hold your follow through until the ball hits the basket.
I do not recommend the "lay on your back" drill that others mentioned here, because it does not train you to lift. Do the same thing standing and shoot almost straight up. Then you can see that your off hand is getting off, your elbow is getting over your eyebrow and you can feel the ball coming off your first finger, as it should.
Marry a woman who can play and have lots of kids, one of them is sure to do it right, especially if she helps them.
You are like me I did the exact same thing. What I did was I laid on my bed and I put the ball in my right hand. Then I shot the ball and if it has a good spin it will come right back to you, but if it doesn't have a good spin then it will wonder off somewhere else.
There's an old school way of developing your shooting motion. Practice your release lying down. To do this, first lie flat on your back. You can choose to keep your legs straight or keep it bent, whichever is comfortable to you. Now, hold your basketball and assume a shooting stance, then start "shooting" the ball vertically about 6 feet into the air, catch the ball and "shoot" again. Do as many repetitions as you can, making sure that you snap your wrist and follow-through each time you release.
No matter what form you use, the only way to have it feel natural is through repetition. One trick to find your stroke is to try shooting with one hand from just a couple feet out for about 5-10 minutes before you play.jp cycles
