Why is my GPS interfering with my radar detector?

I have a Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector and I just purchased a Magellan Roadmate 1220 GPS. When I turn both on, the radar is alerting me endlessly of an X and Ka alert. It's clear to me the GPS is causing this. When I turn the Roadmate off, the alerts stop. Why is this happening, can I stop it, and would the problem be solved by purchasing a new GPS or a newer radar? Why is my GPS interfering with my radar detector?
You might call tech-support for these companies??

also how close together are your units...

My two units did this for awhile, then I just relocated my gps unit down on the seat, and poof, confusion all gone...But. I'm a courier and use mine all day...Why is my GPS interfering with my radar detector?
Pick up a never radar detector but don't purchase a Cobra. They make the worst ones.

Try a BEL v955 or Whistler XTR-695SE if you are still on a budget. If not try a V1 or Escort 8500 X50

I have always use my radar detectors With my GPS with no issues. For GPS's I have used Garmin c330, c550 and Nuvi with a collection of different radar detectors. (Valentine 1, Escort 8500 x50, BEL RX65, BEL STi, Escort 9500i)

And none of my detectors falsed radar from my GPSWhy is my GPS interfering with my radar detector?
Wow, actually you just now cleared it up for me.

Here's my part of your problem. I work within the area of a truck stop and my radar always goes off... on truckers, not on every single truck. But I guess the ones with GPS. It's the same way, the radar detector is just picking up GPS. My radar says KU Alert on it though, x only goes off on other peoples radars, gps, banks. KA goes on off banks, sheriffs, cops, any police form.

I've never seen anyone with both a GPS and Radar Detector an this might be the reason.

Take what's more important
