Can my boat handle this?

can a 16 lund handle 2 to 3 foot chop on the detriot river if not whyCan my boat handle this?
I've owned a 16 FT Lund Adventure with a 25 HP Tiller. It can take an occasional 2-3 Ft swell- but a constant 2-3 chop would be extremely uncomfortable and dangerous. (Also depends on how many people you've got in your boat.)

I was once caught on Gunflint Lake (in MN) when the wind kicked-up a 2-3 FT chop. What should have taken me 12-15 minutes to get back to the ramp, took me 45 minutes.

In other words- Yes the boat can "take it", but expect to go slow, AND be VERY careful.
It handles the rough stuff

“I just bought my first boat. It is a Lund Explorer 16.5 DLX. It's a 1995 with a 2002 Merc 40hp. It is one awesome boat. All my buddies run Lund because you don't lose on the resale. I trust this boat with my life when I get caught out in rough water. It handles the rough stuff real good when need be. Lake of the woods was my first trip and i got scared a little my self. But like my good friend said "were in a Lund don't worry keep the nose up and will make it". God bless LUND OWNERS!! Fish On!!”

Having "said that", I strongly suggest you take a safe boating course, ALWAYS wear your personal floatation device, and use a KILL SWITCH. Any or all of those 3 things could save your life.

Hope that helps.

. for what you asked, there are several variables

1- how much weight is in the boat

2- weight distribution.

3- competency of the boats operator

4- size of the motor
I have a 16ft lund with a 35hp 4 stroke and it can handle waves like that. You have to be care full. But it will work. Can my boat handle this?
The length alone is not enough info to answer this question.
