I have the whole summer to get myself ready before basketball season starts in November. The one thing I really need to work on is speed. What exercises should I do? How long and how often do I need to run?How can I train myself to get faster in basketball?
In order to have a strong and a quick first step in basketball, you must have a strong base strength. What will work it out the quickest is to do leg presses or one legged squats ( you can use stuff like walls to help balance yourself). Do as many reps until you can't do no more, then do that many reps 3 more times. Do some core work: abs, lower back, and obliques. Do bicycle crunches until you can't do no more, then do that many reps 3 more times. You should find a workout for your lower back and do it until you cant do no more, then do that many reps 3 more times. Also, run 2 miles a day, 2 days a week, with ankle weights and small dumbells. Lastly stretch alot, stretching is the most important.
in conclusion, run 2 days a week and work out 3 days a week. If this routine is too easy, then add some more of the above.
This will work because I also do this and the best part of my game is my speed and quickness

Sprinting and running for sure. Try running 7.0 on the treadmill for 1 minute, and then everyday increase it by a minute until you can do it almost effortlessly.How can I train myself to get faster in basketball?

the only way to get faster is to sprint u dont need weights or anything
