How can I pass tryouts for high school basketball?

I'm a freshmen and I think I'm O.K in basketball. I don't think I'm amazing but my friends think I'm really good. When I was in middle school 8th grade, I didn't make it in the team and I've improved a lot ever since. Anybody got tips for me to pass tryouts? I'm 5'5 trying to be point or shooting guard. (My league has a lot of short people). P.S My coach is my 6th period teacher. Do I suck up to him?How can I pass tryouts for high school basketball?
the best hint I can give you is that

lots of time, people would think that coaches looking for

the best skilled player, actually that is not always the case.

rather they have this team the planed out and try to find

the player that can fit best.

so my suggestion would be, talk to you teacher, let him know

that you are interested, and what kind of player that he is looking

for and mold your self to that player. Instead of you compete with

the best player on the team and hope to make the cut, you should

let your coach think that this team need a player like you.

hope that helps.

good luck :)How can I pass tryouts for high school basketball?
theres 3 things you need to make it

1. Dribbling skills

- coaches love a guy who can protect the ball and not cause turnovers

2. Hustle

- If you dive for loose balls once or twice in the try outs. 100% guarantee to make first cut

3. Leadership/team player

- encourage the guys, be the first one to bring the balls out, or help the coach put them away.

- Give guy's high fives around

- If teammates lose the ball tell them don't worry and get back on defense. Also give them tips when the coach is watchingHow can I pass tryouts for high school basketball?
Make sure you can fight through screens on defense and dribble and shoot very well since you're going to be a guard.
