Practice dribbling in addition to your shooting. You also need to make sure that when you practice, whatever you can do with your dominant hand you should work on with your non-dominant hand as well. This makes you harder to guard and more of an asset to your team. If it comes down to you and another person for the team, the coach will be looking for what sets you apart and versatility always helps. Most of all have fun and be as coachable as possible...meaning, be open to what the coaches advise you to do.
well it matters if your 11 or older you should work out your legs so your not lazy to jump or run! just shake you legs around or stand on 1 leg and pull the other 1 back so it almost toches your back! How should I workout to get ready for basketball?
just do all the small things and do them right like diving after all loose balls you can get to, taking charges when avaible, go after every rebound (dont know your height but if you are a small player coaches love seeing the little ppl going after rebounds) , playing good-hard nose defense is another one, and every time you get the ball make the most of it wheather its passing to an open teammate, shooting when the opportunity presents itself, using ball screens, etc. well hope this helped out.
Nothing. Get in shape. Be able to score. That's the essence of the game. How should I workout to get ready for basketball?
Eat lots of burritos
Do a bunch of wall jumps every day... these are standing against a very tall wall and jumping up and down as fast and as high as you can every time for mayb 5 min a day.... This helps with legs strength and explosiveness...... It will also help your recovery timing so that u can dominate the boards..... also run a lot...... don't just shoot by your self play a bunch of pick up basketball games with some of the kids that might be better than you because there is no other way to simulate a game plus if the kids are better it will make you push yourself more.... also start to hit the gym and lift atleast every other day so that you are stronger plus it helps build endurance and helps with coordination..... also i'd say hang out with the other kids trying out for the team, coaches love kids who are liked by the team because it shows that everyone respects them so if you do all this and the things you say you will it will show the coaches your great work ethic and help you a lot too
Some weight training would also be good. Work on both your legs and your shoulders. For your legs, work on things that simulate jumping (squats and heel lifts) and playing defense (adductor machine).
Be sure to practice shooting with good shooting form. Otherwise, you are getting good at being bad.
Work on dribbling as well, especially crossover dribbling at game speed, not jogging speed.
Play pick up games whenever you can. Game experiences make you better.
